Are your nails healthy?
A healthy nail has a pinkish colour, is shinny, supple yet solid, smooth and without stains.
But many things can influence the appearance of your nails.
A healthy nail has a pinkish colour, is shinny, supple yet solid, smooth and without stains.
But many things can influence the appearance of your nails.
Here are a few tips to help keep beautiful nails.
Quick self-manicure
Remove the old nail polish with a gentle nail polish remover.
Equalize your nails with a cardboard file: hold it slightly under the nail, start from the side and move towards the middle avoiding back and forth movements. Make sure you do not strip the sides too much as this encourages the nails to break.
The tiny skins around your nails give a neglected feel to your hand.
Every evening, dip your nails in tepid water to soften the skins or apply an emollient cream, then use a wooden stick ( no metal or sharp instruments) to push the skins back.
Dry and dull nails are prone to breakage.
Moisturise your nails with olive oil, take few drops of olive oil on your palm and rub it on your nails.
The same way as it wouldn’t be healthy for you to stay indoors all the time, it is not healthy for your nails to be covered all the time by nail polish.
I love nail polish myself but I know it is also important to let my nails breathe from time to time!
Avoid painting your nails with polishes than contain formaldehyde, toluene and sulfonamide. These chemicals are unhealthy for your nails.

To whiten your nails
Dip your nails into half a lemon and brush them gently afterwards. The yellow hue disappears and this process doesn’t damage your nails.
Are your nails doubling?
Keep them shorter and dip your nails into a little tepid cod liver oil every day.
Every night, massage around your nails in circular motions with a cream rich in vitamin A.
If using nail polish, make sure you remove it with a gentle product that doesn’t contain acetone which has stripping effect.
Want stronger nails?
Take a garlic clove and slice it and rub it on your nails. Let the juice get absorbed. A lemon juice also makes your nails healthy!
Beauty also comes from the inside.
Here are some food to fortify your nails
♥ carrot , chicory, spinach, dandelion, green beans, peas
♥ peach, plum, prunes, apricots
♥ butter, eggs, eels
Are your nails breaking easily, are they cracked or too soft?
Lack of moisture is usually the cause of brittle or cracked nails. A lack of protein also causes brittle nails. You can meet your needs for protein with many different foods such as beans, eggs, meat, fish, chicken or nuts. You can also take drinking protein shakes or vitamin D supplements .
I personally use a collagen formula from Lorna Vanderhaeghe, which helps make my nails more beautiful, my skin smoother, my hair and my bones stronger.
